Harley Street Skin Mineral Make-Up

We’ve been using mineral make-up at The Harley Street Skin Clinic for the last 10 years and recommend it to all our patients for it’s numerous benefits. We find that more often than not, once our patients try mineral make-up, they’re completely converted and reluctant to go back to using conventional make-up brands. We used all of our knowledge and feedback from our patients to develop Harley Street Skin Mineral Make-Up in 2008.

We initially began using minerals to ease skin redness in patients following laser treatments, and found that once their skin had healed, they wanted to continue using mineral make-up because it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, and amazingly lasts all day without being re-touched, a big bonus as let’s face it, who’s got the time to touch-up several times a day?

Unlike conventional make-up, mineral make-up is actually good for the skin and contains only pure, natural ingredients with anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. Whilst we always recommend that you remove your make-up before you go to bed, if, horror of horrors, you fall asleep with your make up on, it will do no harm at all to your skin – thanks to the large molecules in mineral make-up that stay on the surface of the skin and aren’t absorbed. So no need to panic if you occasionally forget your nighttime routine!

Because the mineral make-up stays on the skin’s surface it acts as a barrier and actually protects from pollution and environmental damage, providing a natural physical SPF 20 too. Furthermore, mineral make-up is inert, so doesn’t harbor bacteria, making it the ideal solution if you suffer with spots – providing excellent coverage that won’t make the problem worse.

Even though we already knew how fantastic mineral make-up is – we had no idea that it would become such a huge success and we pride ourselves on being amongst the first to introduce the product into the UK. What’s in it?

Our pure mineral powders, foundations, blushers and eye shadows are made from skin-healthy ingredients, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide and pharmaceutical grade vitamins A, D and E and lavender-based aromatherapy. The range is suitable for all skin types and shades, ages and conditions. Anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties make these products ideal for rosacea and acne prone skin.

Who uses it and why?

Our products are endorsed by cosmetic and plastic surgeons and dermatologists and are used professionally to cover redness after filler and Botox injections and chemical or laser peel procedures.

Preferred by professional make-up artists as our products have great staying power, do not run under harsh lighting, and are excellent for the skin. Minerals are non-comedogenic, oil-free and very water resistant making them the ideal solution for those with active lifestyles, (mineral make-up is favoured by many actors and politicians), or if you are troubled by menopausal flushes, acne, rosacea or uneven pigmentation. There are no harmful chemicals, talc, dyes, alcohol, perfume, parabens or fillers and the products are close to zero per cent allergy rated.

As our range contains only skin-healthy ingredients, the products are interchangeable and can be used anywhere on the face for beautiful custom colours. Try using your blusher as an eye shadow or, with the application of a clear gloss, on the lips for a shade that perfectly compliments your blusher.

How do you apply it?

Ensure that the face is dry and that any moisturiser has been absorbed into the skin (if in doubt – blot the skin with a clean tissue). First apply crème to powder concealer to any areas of concern.

Apply the foundation with either a Luscious Kabuki brush for natural coverage, a Powder Dome for very light coverage – particularly suitable for black or very dark skins who need light application a few times rather than one heavier application or a Capra Purse brush for extra coverage on areas of concern like broken veins or rosacea  – tap off any excess powder.

Start on the forehead and work the powder into the skin in small circular motions over the whole face, including eyelids and lips, neck and chest area and if you have short hair or wear your hair up apply the foundation to the ears as well. (Ensuring that the ears are the same colour as the rest of the face and protected from UVA/UVB rays).

It’s important to use circular movements in order to lift all the soft, downy hair on the face and ensure that colour is applied under the hairs as well. Once the foundation has been applied use the brush in a downward movement across the whole face to remove any excess powder and flatten downy hair.

If the skin becomes moist due to perspiration or you get caught in the rain, blot gently with a tissue to remove excess moisture – DO NOT RUB or you will remove the powder from your face.

Don’t forget that you can use the foundation, blusher and eye shadow anywhere on your face. Foundations can be used as blusher, blusher can be used as eye shadow or lipstick, eye shadow can be used as eyeliner, etc. Try it and see!

Baked Mineral Bronzer

Baked Mineral Bronzer is our latest product, just arrived from the USA. The most innovative type of mineral bronzer – it’s baked on terracotta tiles to capture moisture within the product resulting in a luxurious, creamy, non-powder formula. Available in a range of golden, bronze, peach and apricot tones to liven up any complexion with a beautiful, sun-kissed glow. Apply anywhere the sun catches your skin – focusing on the brow bone, along the cheekbones, the centre of the nose and the tip of the chin. With delicate, light catching shimmer particles for a fresh, dewy finish.

Use a large, longhaired brush to sweep the bronzer across the face. The pure mineral powder can be used anywhere on the face, neck or décolleté, so try using an eye shadow brush to pick out your favourite shade and apply it to the eyelids. Not only will this give you fantastic eye-enhancing colour that won’t separate (so you don’t end up with the colour in one place and the shimmer in another) it will also provide you with sun protection on the very delicate skin of the eyelid.

Loose Foundation

Buff Oat Powder

To minimize pores and conceal redness. Contains our pure mineral foundation and a gentle oat powder to help to balance and soothe irritated skin. Oats are often recommended by doctors to calm irritated skin conditions and Buff Oat Powder can be used all over the face to hide redness caused by rosacea or broken veins, help to disguise dark circles under the eyes, absorb excess oils and calm irritated skin. It’s talc free and suitable for all skin types, even dry skin.  Particularly useful for minimizing large pores – the powder settles into the pores to diminish their appearance.

Easy to apply – just put a little in the lid and swirl your Luscious Kabuki brush in the powder, tap off any excess and then gently press on to the affected areas or, if preferred, use all over the face and neck to balance skin colour and tone.

Pressed Foundation

Available in 12 shades, SPF15 Pressed Foundation should be used with the Luscious Dome or Capra Purse brush to provide a more opaque, matte finish. Shades: Barely There, Oatmeal, Canvas, Sea Shell, Cocoa, Sand Dune, Cashmere, Ice Coffee, Cool Beige, Espresso, Caramel.

Face Blusher

Rich colours and subtle hues, will deepen countours and create a flattering youthful blush. Quality ingredients allow you to create monocromatic looks for lips, eyes and cheeks using only one shade. Eye and Lip Make Up Remover

A gentle, yet highly effective make-up remover, with lavender based aromatherapy, suitable for even the most sensitive eye and skin types. Our oil-free formula means contact lens wearer’s can use this product to effectively remove eye make-up without the risk of build-up on the lens.

Apply a small amount to a cotton pad and hold on the eye area. Take care not to rub the delicate skin around the eye as this encourages lines and wrinkles to appear. Leaves no oily residue so you can immediately apply new make-up to the eye area.

It can be used on the lips to remove lipstick and provides a great base for application of new lip colour. This formula is so gentle that it can be kept in the fridge and applied on a damp cotton pad to soothe irritated eyes. Use only a small amount as a little goes a long way!
