A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is an operation to lift the level of your eyebrows to a higher position. It can also help to lift folds of skin that may hang over your eyes and smooth out frown lines between your eyebrows as well as any horizontal wrinkles you may have on your forehead.
Brow lifts can be performed in several different ways. One method, called a coronal brow lift, involves your surgeon making a cut across the top of your scalp, hidden within your hair. Through the cut, your surgeon removes excess skin, shortens the muscles that cause frown lines and lifts your eyebrows.
Another technique uses small endoscopes (“keyhole surgery”) that are inserted through tiny cuts in your hairline, to reduce the muscles that cause frown lines. This type of brow lift normally has the advantage of minimal scarring, but your surgeon will not be able to make as many changes as when a coronal brow lift is performed. Our preferred technique is an internal brow lift. The eyebrow is elevated through an upper eyelid skin crease incision with good cosmetic results and no scarring.
Those with heavy eyelids and excess skin that may hang over the eyes.
Eyebrows are lifted and any sagging skin from the eyelid is removed to open up the eyes giving a younger, fresher appearance. Frown lines are smoothed and horizontal lines and wrinkles on the forehead are visibly improved.
The effects of this one-off procedure are permanent.
Each method is carried out under local or general anaesthetic. You will usually be able to return home later the same day.
