With so many affected - both physically and mentally - by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are pleased to be able to announce that the Harley Street Skin Clinic will now be able to offer comprehensive Coronavirus antibody testing. This quick and simple diagnostic offers all patients instant results that help put your mind at ease, protect those closest to you, and do your part to improve the health and safety of the general populace.
Together we can get through this!
The remarkable difference a Harley Street Skin Clinic treatment can provide
Antibody Tests will detect traces of COVID-19 in both patients that are displaying symptoms, and those that appear to be 100% asymptomatic. If you are at all concerned about being a carrier and passing the virus onto older, more vulnerable friends and family without your knowledge due to a lack of symptoms- you may very well wish to conduct a test purely for peace of mind.
These tests have an accuracy upward of 99% and are extremely quick to perform, determining if you have had the viral infection - at any point - by looking at whether you have developed an immunity to the virus. They are conducted on site and will provide conclusive results in as little as 10 minutes, simply by looking at antibodies present in your small blood sample.
Thankfully, testing is now available to the public meaning we are all now able to do our part to prevent the spread of a virus which has had disastrous and tragic impacts on hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. If you are due to return to work, are itching to be reunited with family, or experiencing corona-related anxiety, a simple antibody test could make all the difference.

The answer to some of the most common questions you may have
It's only natural to have questions if you are considering pursuing a treatment for the first time, and at Harley Street Skin, it's important to us that you feel confident and comfortable at every stage of your journey. To help you find the answers you need, here are a few of the more common quibbles that we find our clients frequently ask...
The test is a lateral flow immunoassay test, and operates in a similar way to a pregnancy test.
You will be asked for a few small droplets of blood from a finger prick test. This blood sample is absorbed by a test strip, travelling up the strip and into a testing device - much like a blood-glucose meter that a diabetic may use.
Embedded in the test strip are the COVID-19 specific markers [antigens] that react with the Immunoglobulin IgG and Immunoglobulin IgM antibodies (if they are present in the blood). If the patient has contracted COVID-19, the biomakers in their blood will bind to the antigens on the test strip, leaving a visible test line. If the patient has not been exposed to COVID-19, there will be no IgG and IgM antibodies present in their blood and the COVID-19 test lines will not be activated. If the COVID-19 IgG and IgM test lines are present, this indicates that the patient has been exposed to the virus.
Each test also has a marker control line, which when activated, proves the test has been conducted properly.
Immunoglobulins are antibodies - an integral part of our immune system. IgG and IgM are specific types of these immunoglobulins.
When we get an infection, such as COVID-19, immunoglobulins are produced. These attach to the virus (the 'antigen') and activate the body's immune system to attack and defeat the virus.
IgM is the first immunoglobulin to be produced and is a general antibody that can bind to many different types of pathogens. Because of this, it is our first line of defense against the COVID-19 virus.
The presence of IgM in the blood is an indicator of early infection and can be found in the blood from the onset of the symptoms, peaking around day 6 from the onset of symptoms, and may be detected in the blood for up to 50 days after the infection.
The IgG antibody is released by the body as a result of the body's immune system decoding the genetic make up of the virus (RNA-Ribonucleic acid) and can be found in the body from about day 4 after the onset of symptoms and up to 60 days.
The IgG antibody specifically targets the SARS CoV-2 virus and is the basis for potential immunity against the virus.
Testing should take no longer than 30 minutes out of your day - from checking into the clinic to receiving your results. As results are visible after just 10 minutes, you can be in and out of the clinic in virtually no time at all.
Yes.
The test looks at your biological response to the virus antigens, which means it can detect exactly what is going on inside the blood.
This means it will be able to detect IgM/IgG in asymptomatic people just as easily, as they will have an immune response even though they don't display symptoms. From a biological perspective, the timeline of infection will be the same as someone displaying symptoms.
No - those that are afraid of injections, large needles or invasive swabs needn't worry.
The process for antibody testing simply requires a finger prick test - you should feel nothing more than the sensation of a small scratch. This finger prick draws a few very small drops of blood that can then be used to interact with the antigens on the test strip.
That's that!
