Stem Cell Treatment In London

With over half a million procedures undertaken, you're in safe hands

Treatments making use of Stem Cells are truly groundbreaking in the realms of health and medicine. This is because the scope for what these isolated cells can achieve when put to good use is just astonishing, offering not just cosmetic benefits, but legitimate medical benefits also.

So far, stem cell technology has been shown to have a successful impact on everything from superficial, surface damage - such as scar tissue, or inflammation-induced rosacea - to much more complex tissue and organ damage - such as genetic abnormality and even disease.

Lesley Says

“Stem Cells are special human cells that are able to develop into different cell types. This means they can be used to replace damaged tissue all over the body. We're very excited to be able to introduce Stem Cell technology to our treatment catalogue.”

Dr Khan Says

“Stem cell treatments can help with so many health problems. For example, if a person suffers with heart disease, cells would be injected into the heart muscle directly. Healthy transplanted heart muscle cells could then contribute to repairing the defective heart muscle.”

Stem Cell Treatment Before & Afters

The remarkable difference a Harley Street Skin Clinic treatment can provide

Of course, stem cells' ability to repair underlying damage also means that treatment can have incredible cosmetic effects, too. Whether that be by reducing inflammation which is leading to extreme skin flair ups or puffiness, or by helping to rebuild and conceal scar tissue or wrinkles - these mighty cells are truly magnificent for youth-boosting and anti-ageing.

Similarly, by targeting sluggish or damaged cells which are no longer functioning at optimum due to ageing, treatment can be a wonderful means of facial restoration and rejuvenation. This helps combat even severely visible signs of ageing such as volume loss, skin laxity and pigmentation.

Thanks to Stem Cell technology, those with relentless conditions that leave them struggling on a day-to-basis can finally begin to fight back. When used to treat chronic pain and the development of degenerative disease, stem cells can drastically improve an individual's overall quality of life.

Since ageing is a process of degradation (and indeed a trigger for many degenerative diseases including arthritis, cardiovascular disease, cancer, osteoporosis and more), stem cell treatment won't just improve the quality of your life, either; it has also been linked to actually extending it.

Stem Cell Treatment FAQs

The answer to some of the most common questions you may have

It's only natural to have questions if you are considering pursuing a treatment for the first time, and at Harley Street Skin, it's important to us that you feel confident and comfortable at every stage of your journey. To help you find the answers you need, here are a few of the more common quibbles that we find our clients frequently ask...

Stem cells are special human cells that are able to develop into different cell types. These stem cells can be derived from fat, bone marrow or embryonic stem cells from the umbilical lining.

There has been over 30 years of research performed on the safety and efficacy of using these naturally-occurring stem cells in treatment, and the results have enabled us to rethink our approach to ageing, rejuvenation, injury and disease.

Whilst there are many principal types of stem cell, the ones traditionally made use of in treatment are known as Multipotent stem cells. This is because of their phenomenal capacity to self-renew by dividing and developing into multiple specialised cell types that are present in all tissue.

There are 3 groups of Multipotent stem cells about the body; these are:

Neuronal stem cells (Found in the brain, they form different types of nerve cells), Haematopoietic stem cells (They form types of blood cells), Mesenchymal stem cells (They form bone, tendons, muscle, cartilage, and skin cells).

Stem Cells have 5 major functions which make them perfect for regenerative purposes:

1. They can multiply and produce exact replicas of themselves - this means they can multiply to the capacity needed to repair and replace damaged tissues.
2. They produce growth factors, cytokines and chemokines (messengers that direct the local repair system to move to the damaged tissues or organs and direct the immune system to settle inflammation and start to repair the tissues.) They also improve and restore communication between the cells to improve the tissue/organ function.
3. They have the ability to differentiate into cells to replace damaged tissue and restore normal functionality.
4. On a cellular and molecular level they know when to stop regenerating so there is no risk to overgrowth - we call this cellular intelligence.
5. They can recognise inflammation and damaged tissue.

Stem cell treatment currently starts at around £20,000.

These costs are subject to patient consultation and will vary depending on the extend of treatment required for your desired outcome. To get a better idea on individual costs, you can book in for a free of charge consult today!

They can be derived from fat, bone marrow, or embryonic stem cells from the umbilical lining.

Embryonic stem cells are harvested very soon after birth in a GMP-regulated laboratory in a teaching hospital lab in the UK. They are then all thoroughly screened for infection, disease and genetic abnormalities prior to use.

There was some controversy surrounding the use of embryonic stem cells in the early days of stem cell research, although this has since settled as understanding of the stem cell process has improved. Even so, some people still prefer to use their own stem cells despite that embryonic cells are far more potent, with a greater capacity to replicate and multiple, than older cells.

Doctors have performed stem cell transplants where stem cells have replaced cells damaged by chemotherapy or disease. These newly-deposited cells have then served to bolster the patient's immune system and fight back against various cancers and blood-related diseases (such as leukemia, lymphoma, neuroblastoma and multiple myeloma).

Historically, it has also been used for facial restoration/rejuvenation, chronic pain, joint injury or degradation, degenerative diseases (such as heart disease), the enhancement of the immune system and even life extension!

Firstly, the cells are harvested from either fat, bone marrow or umbilical cord, then examined for any abnormalities, diseases or malfunction. Then, these cells are propagated to increase their numbers to therapeutic levels, then stored in liquid nitrogen until use.

Unlike some treatments, successful stem cell treatment does not depend on a patient's general health - or even age - going into the procedure. All treatments are successful, although results may vary from patient to patient.

You may feel some minor discomfort after treatment if you have had stem cells injected into your skin topically. There may also be some residual redness for a few days, but nothing that should last any longer than that. Please note that treatment itself is not typically painful, either, as patients having stem cell injections will be given pain control prior to treatment.

Whilst there is no designated 'downtime' in the traditional sense, we do recommend that you refrain from flying for a minimum of 5 days post-treatment. This is to ensure both optimum results and comfort whilst you heal.
