The Wide Awake Facelift achieves just this in less than an hour, swapping the surgical scalpel for absorbable, collagen-stimulating threads. WAF Lifts make use of absorbable threads which are injected into multiple areas of the cheeks and lower face, forming a trellis for the skin to be hoisted into a new, more taut position. These threads hold the skin in place, leave no scars whatsoever and offer immediate results.
The resulting lift gives the face a much more rested, youthful look with a noticeable reduction in any fine lines or wrinkles. The procedure is so minimally invasive that it is done under only the assistance of local anaesthetic.
The procedure offers optimum results when combined with Angel PRP and Dermaroller therapy to boost collagen production and improve generalised skin tone. The Angel PRP (platelet-rich plasma) procedure involves drawing blood from the arm, separating out the platelets and then re-injecting them into the skin. This releases growth factors which help the body repair itself by stimulating cells to regenerate new tissue. Dermaroller then helps to refresh the skin further through microneedling - a process which creates superficial damage to the skin, activating a healing response. This in turn also boosts collagen levels, thickens ageing skin and treats fine lines, scars, and uneven skin tone.
WAF lifts are perfect for those that don't quite feel ready for a full surgical facelift.
They will give a relaxed and lifted look, and therefore are suitable for those with little pockets of loose skin, lost volume in the cheeks and a general sagging of the jawline and/or the brow.
In addition to fantastic lift, you can expect to see a significant boost to skin tone, softened facial lines and a remarkable improvement to the plumpness of the cheeks.
Final results of a WAF Lift can last up to 4 years. You will see lifted, plumped and restored facial volume immediately after your procedure, however best results are seen gradually over a 3 month period, as the skin tightens and new collagen is formed.
The Wide Awake Facelift is a 60 minute procedure, using only local anaesthetic. It offers immediate visible results, and absolutely no scarring. Results of your WAF will continue to improve over the following three months as new collagen is formed.
Side effects of the WAF include minor bruising, swelling, tenderness and slight sensitivity in the treated area. Patients will also experience a sensation of tightness in the face, which will subside once inflammation has reduced. This will likely take between 5-7 days.
Invasive surgery and months of recovery time can be a thing of the past with the WAF Lift, with downtime sitting usually between the range of 3-5 days, although there may be some residual swelling and bruising beyond this point.
None of this is recovery time is spent in hospital however, as the added benefit of the WAF is that it only requires the use of local anaesthesia. This means that not only is it far more cost-effective (as it does not require an anaesthetist), but you are free to return to the comfort of your own home that very same day!
Patients typically feel comfortable returning to work anywhere between days 3 and 7, although this is entirely down to personal preference and patients should work to their own timeline, and listen to their bodies when thinking of returning to the workplace.
