Why does it need to be done?
Breast implant removal surgery, also called breast explant surgery is a type of surgery involving the removal of breast implants without replacement. The procedure is fast and relatively simple. This is done through an incision that follows the old scar which is generally located under the breast, but can also be placed around the nipple or in the armpit. The implants are carefully removed through this cut. The surgeon used stitches to close the cut with limited scarring. Also, any scar tissue that may form around the implants is removed during a procedure referred to as a capsulectomy if necessary. It assists with delivering the optimum outcomes with minimum complication.
Breast implant removal surgery usually takes 1 to 2 hours. However when the procedure is done alongside another surgery, this may take longer.
Yes, your skin and tissue typically go back to pre-implant state following breast implant removal procedures, additional surgery is often unnecessary.
After having breast implants removed, a breast lift also can be an excellent way to restore previous firmness to the breasts.
