21-Year-Old Nervous About Upcoming Rhinoplasty Procedure

I'm 21. My dream has finally come true. In 2 days, I'm getting my nose reshaped. I'm just really scared of the anaesthesia. I'm afraid of that state of unconsciousness. Today, I had a blood test. I nearly fainted - I'm that impressionable. Anyone who's had plastic surgery, cheer me up with your stories 😊.

They call it a pick-me-up... old envious hags. I understand you, OP. I myself long dreamed and finally did it. My self-esteem and appearance have changed for the better, I'm pleased with the result. Anaesthesia isn't the scariest part. The hardest part is rehabilitation, as you can't breathe or sleep properly, once the anaesthesia wears off, your bones ache, and you have terrible bruises on half your face. OP, learn from my story. Rhinoplasty is a very delicate operation and postoperative care is very important. You need to monitor how the nasal passages heal after the packing is removed. Check-ups every 2-3 days!!! My surgeon neglected me, and as a result, my mucous membrane fused, forming adhesions. I could hardly breathe. I then had to have 3 more operations to restore my breathing. Be more careful, adhesions are a common complication. I was particularly unlucky.

I've done it. You come round from the anaesthetic just fine, the worst part is afterwards, when you've got packing in your nose, and you have to eat, drink and sleep with your mouth open, otherwise, you'll suffocate😊. I could hardly wait for them to take it out. The bruises and haemorrhages were awful, but no pain, not a single painkiller injection. My nose is fine, the swelling started to go down sharply in the 5th month, everything returned to normal in just a week. But before that, I walked around with a snout on half my face😆.

I've had it done twice. The first time was at university, no problems at all, they sent me home on the third day, I think. I can't remember how long I wore the muzzle for, there were some minor bruises, but a few years later the bump started to show again. I had it done again at 28. Everything's perfect now. I wasn't scared of the anaesthesia, but you do get really thirsty afterwards. Good luck!

I've never understood why anyone would want to operate on a perfectly good nose? I have a hole in my septum due to a botched ENT operation. Despite all the advertisements and claims that it can be fixed, all the surgeons I've approached have turned me down. The hole is about 4cm, so the chances of a successful operation are slim. In the future, my nose could collapse and then I'd need a rhinoplasty. And the surgeons have told me that a hole can occur after a rhinoplasty. The downsides of the hole are that the air doesn't warm up, it's always cold in the winter, and there's blood from the cold air. I can't run because the air doesn't circulate properly and I can't get enough air when I'm running. Even though I'm physically fit.

Ladies, has anyone had their columella (the partition between the nostrils) lowered? I have a normal shape of the nasal cartilage, but the tip of it is drooping and it doesn't harmonise with my face (as if someone drew on a foreign one). I would like it to be slightly upturned, and I was told that there are 2 options - 1) tighten the skin of the forehead and the nose will lift (not for long), and 2) increase the columella so that the angle between the nose and the face is not a harsh 90 degrees, but smoother. What should I choose?

HAPPY HOLIDAY, GIRLS!!!!!!Got my cast off today!!!!!!!!!!!!!really like my nose!!!!!there's swelling at the tip, which I can both see and feel(unpleasant sensation), and there's some swelling on the surface too, but despite all this, everything looks great, and others can't see the swelling....so there you go, good luck to everyone, and may you be as lucky with your doctor as I was!!!!!

Why is it that after rhinoplasty, those whose tips were drooping, become upturned like a little pig's snout. I know about five people who've had their noses done - and suddenly it's turned upwards like a potato. It's a bit strange. I also want to narrow my septum, but my tip is already upturned, I'm worried, what will this lead to?
