What is Fibroblast?

Body Renewal

Skin Firmness

What does fibroblast therapy do?

Fibroblast treatment is a non-invasive aesthetic plasma treatment designed to lift and tighten the skin. The device operates by processing plasma energy to deliver tiny controlled micro-injuries on the surface of your skin. These minor injuries spur the creation of new collagen and elastin, which keep skin tightness and flexibility. This ultimately helps to improve the texture and tone of the skin, reducing wrinkles and lines, thus giving you an overall healthier appearance.

In addition to skin tightening, this procedure will smoothen your wrinkles, as well as making a significant improvement in skin texture and tone. It also works to treat uneven skin pigmentation, acne scars, and sun damage, all helping the skin to look more even toned with healthier radiance. One of the most advantageous aspects of fibroblast treatment is that it is a non-invasive approach procedure, therefore there will be no need for surgery nor huge downtime. The effects are durable and last for years as the skin continues to regenerate and produce new collagen and elastic fibers over a few years.

Several benefits include:

  • Non-surgical
  • Boosts collagen production
  • Minimal downtime
  • Reduces loose skin, wrinkles, and fine lines

The Fibroblast Therapy Procedure

Immune cells contributes to connective tissue and epithelial cells on fibroblast success

How does fibroblast treatment work?

The fibroblast treatment is based on a system between the connective tissue with epithelial, which aims to improve tissue’s repair function and rejuvenation. Human fibroblasts are support cells inside the connective tissue that form fundamental constituents of the extracellular matrix (ECM), contribute to wound healing, and help in repair and regeneration.

For the fibroblast therapy process, the first thing to do is to apply topical anaesthesia to the area to be treated to eliminate any discomfort the patient may feel. Once the area is cleaned and the numbing cream has set in, the treatment process will begin. The surgeon will run a small hand-held device across the treatment area. The device creates a small plasma flash at the end of the tool and as it strikes against your skin, it leaves little dots behind. The device works on the voltage in the air between the plasma itself and your skin. These dots stay only after the plasma flash used by the wand never touches skin directly but end up making your skin firm and tight.

Visible Results

How long will the result last?

The great thing about fibroblast therapy results is they are permanent and you expect patients to see them almost instantly after treatment. But, just as any surgery will not prevent new signs of ageing from emerging later on.

In order to prolong the appearance of your fibroblast treatment results, avoid heavy sun exposure, smoking and high alcohol consumption. Also, keep up with a consistent skin care regimen.

Duration of the procedure

How long does the procedure take?

The duration of plasma treatment for the fibroblast therapy lasts between 30 and 60 minutes. This also adds the time to apply numbing cream prior to the treatment procedure. You may expect to need 2 to 3 sessions following your initial session and each session is typically scheduled 4, 6 or sometimes 12 weeks apart for superior outcomes.

Managing pain and discomfort

Does fibroblast therapy hurt?

With the fibroblast treatment, there is no pain as a numbing cream is applied beforehand. This aids in reduction of any discomfort. You may experience some warmth, tingling, or light burning during the treatment but it is typically tolerated very well by most people.

Surgery Timeline

How long until I see results?

Immediate results after your appointment will be visible, but the rest of changes will appear as your skin regenerates and collagen production ramps up. Final results of the healing process are usually seen within 3 months. The lasting effect of fibroblast typically lasts for 3 years.

    Who is the ideal candidate?

Before having plasma fibroblast  therapy, it is important to identify whether or not you are an ideal candidate. Best results of fibroblast therapy are seen in light skin types with mild to moderate wrinkling, and not surrounding the eyes. On the flip side, dark-skinned people are not good candidates due to their higher skin pigmentation potential. In addition to this, individuals with some skin conditions should not be administered the plasma treatment either. The procedure is not for pregnant or breastfeeding women, anyone with a known history of reactions to any type of topical anesthetics, and those who have infections in the area being treated. The nature is the same if you are using this for wrinkles or acne then also if you have a history of keloids and hypertrophic scarring. Before plasma treatment is performed the first time, a free consultation is important to evaluate your skin, manage your expectations and other health concerns with your healthcare provider.

    What are the risks?

    Can a risk be prevented?

Plasma fibroblast therapy can cause a range of possible side effects on your skin. These may include redness, skin pigmentation, and in some cases scarring. The key thing is to properly care for the skin afterwards so as not to enhance this risk. You can also get an infection if the skin is not cleaned well before starting with treatment. Poor outcomes have been described due to poorly administered fibroblast treatment resulting in burns and areas of skin darkening.

In case you have complications after fibroblast treatment then some minor issues can occur that most patients can easily settle away with time like redness, swelling, or crusting. But signs of a more serious condition, including burns, scarring or infection may need medical care.
