What is bloating, gas, and trapped wind?
Bloating, gas, and trapped wind usually occur when there is excess gas or air formation present in our digestive system. Most likely in the stomach or ,intestine. You will not be harmed with these conditions but it can make your stomach pain and make you feel awkward.
Types of bloating:
- Post-meal bloating: Occurs after eating large meals or eating too fast.
- Chronic Bloating: It may be because of chronic conditions like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), or tumors in the gastrointestinal area.
- Hormonal Bloating: Affects women during menstrual period.
- Bloating due to constipation: Feeling fullness because of hard and seldom stools.
Types of gas:
- Excessive Gas (Flatulence): These may be the result of swallowing air or eating too much gas-producing food.
- Belching (Burping): A result of eating too quickly and consuming carbonated drinks.
Types of trapped wind:
- Gas Trapped in the Stomach: Overeating or eating too quickly might cause gas to become trapped in the upper belly.
- Gas Trapped in Small Intestine: Slow digestion or intolerance in some diets might result in gas being trapped in the small intestine.
- Gas Trapped in Large Intestine: Constipation or improper food digestion might result in gas trapped in the large intestine.
