Nipple Inversion
What are inverted and oversized nipples?
Nipple shape and size can look different on people they belong to. Inverted or flat nipples, for example, is the nipple facing inward instead of outward. Be it naturally or through time due to several other issues. Usually harmless, it’s best to check with a doctor if the inversion is sudden, as it can indicate something underlying.
Oversized nipples, on the other hand, are bigger than normal nipples or areolas. This can be due to genetics, pregnancy, nursing, or just aging. Totally normal, but it makes some people feel self-conscious, or even uncomfortable. The good news is that there are solutions if you are seeking a change wanting to feel comfortable in your own skin matters.
Inverted nipple grade
There are three grades of inverted nipples that reflect the severity of the condition
- Grade 1 (Mild): Nipple is retracted and can be easily pulled outward and temporarily stays.
- Grade 2 (Moderate): The nipple can be drawn out but snaps back in after a few seconds.
- Grade 3 (Severe): The nipple will not come out, usually surgical intervention is required.
