Loose And Saggy Skin Appearance
What is skin laxity?
When you look in the mirror, did you notice that your skin is different now than in your younger years? Yes, we used to have smooth, bright, and younger-looking skin when we were young. Some things will change as we age and that includes our skin. It loses collagen and elastin over the years. When these two vital components become scarce, we also begin to lose elasticity resulting in loose or sagging skin.
Skin laxity may occur if firmness and elasticity of the skin are lost. There are several reasons why it can happen, such as ageing, weight loss, sun damage, unhealthy lifestyle, or even environmental factors.
Types of Skin Laxity
- Mild Laxity: A mild looseness of the skin that is usually noticeable on the area around the eyes, neck, and jawline.
- Moderate Laxity: Sagging is more noticeable, especially on the upper arms and midface area.
- Severe Laxity: Extremes sagging of the skin after advanced ageing or significant weight loss
