Treatment
The three main ear wax removal methods are microsuction, irrigation, and manual removal. Microsuction, the most common and preferred, uses a small suction device for quick (10-30 minutes), painless, water-free removal, making it safe for perforated eardrums or infections. Irrigation (ear syringing) flushes wax out with warm water in 15-30 minutes but isn’t suitable for those with ear infections or perforations. Manual removal uses curettes, forceps, or probes, often alongside microsuction, to clear small, hard blockages.
