What is Microneedling?

Skin Renewal

What is microneedling good for?

Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy is an innovative treatment used to stimulate collagen and elastin production to enhance skin texture and firmness. This treatment uses tiny needles to create micro-injuries, encouraging skin’s natural healing process to improve and rejuvenate skin. Though typically performed on the face, it’s also useful for the neck, back, legs or other areas showing signs of aging or damage. Microneedling is popular for minimising acne scars, age spots, wrinkles, or stretch marks, and helps with some medical skin concerns. It is often recommended that multiple sessions be done to achieve optimal results.

Several benefits include:

  • They help keep skin firm and smooth.
  • Minimizes the appearance of fine lines for a more youthful look.
  • Leaves skin feeling smoother and more even.
  • Aids in the reduction of acne scars and stretch marks.
  • Reduces dark spots and sun damage.
  • Minimal downtime

Best for: Face, neck, chest

Benefits:

  • Tightens skin
  • Smooths deep scars and wrinkles
  • Improves elasticity
  • Safe for all skin tones

Dermaplaning + Microneedling

A specialised blade is used to scrape away dead skin cells before microneedling, allowing for deeper absorption of products.

Recovery time: 1 to 2 days

  • Brightens skin
  • Minimizes fine line
  • Shrinks pores
  • Makes skincare products more effective

The procedure
Naturally Heal Your Skin
How does it work?

This treatment employs a sophisticated device with microscopic needles that creates small, controlled wounds on the skin’s surface. This process helps naturally stimulate collagen and elastin production and triggers the body’s natural healing process. It also helps release growth factors that act to repair and refresh the skin.

Allow Your Skin Time To Heal
When will I see the result?

Some people notice slight improvements within a week, while deeper changes take longer to develop as the skin heals and regenerates itself. The precise timing varies depending on how each person’s skin reacts to the treatment.

Frequency For The Best Glow
How many treatments do I need?

Microneedling treatment works in three stages, and most people see their best results after three sessions spaced a few weeks apart:

  • Stage 1: Inflammation: The micro-injuries created by microneedling stimulate a healing process in your body. This cleans the area, increases blood flow and begins the process of creating new skin cells.
  • Stage 2: Repair: Your skin cells start producing more collagen and elastin, and new blood vessels form to aid healing.
  • Stage 3: Renewal: The collagen and new blood vessels that are formed give the skin strength and improved texture, making the skin look healthier and more youthful.
Treatment Process.
What happens during the procedure?

Before the procedure, your healthcare provider cleans your skin and puts on a topical anaesthetic, which takes about 30 to 45 minutes to kick in.
The procedure involves either a handheld roller or an electric device with tiny needles to create micro-injuries. The needle depth varies from 0.5 to 2 millimeters, depending on your skin needs, particularly on deep scars or acne patches.

You might also feel warmth or scratching during treatment, especially on bony places like the cheekbones, which are more sensitive. Deeper treatments can cause a little bleeding. Depending on the treatment area, the session varies from 15 mins to a few hours.

Minimal Discomfort
Is it painful?

Microneedling is not typically painful, though you may feel light scratching or tingling. A numbing cream minimizes discomfort, although sensitive spots such as the forehead may remain more intense.—

  • Use post-session lotions frequently to keep skin hydrated and comfortable.

Slowly return to regular skincare:

  • Two to three days later, you can return to your normal skin regimen if your skin is ready.

Cleansing guidelines:

  • For the first 72 hours do not wash your face.
  • After three days, wash with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water with gentle hand movements.
  • Do not use face brushes for a minimum of 7 days.

Am I suitable
Who is the ideal candidate?

Microneedling is perfect for anyone looking to have smoother, healthier skin. It’s particularly beneficial for individuals with fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores, or uneven skin tone. Anyone will be able to benefit from this treatment because it works for all skin types.

The ideal candidates tend to be in good health and do not have active skin infections, severe acne or a history of unusual scarring. Microneedling is a simple, non-invasive procedure that helps boost collagen regeneration.

The risks
Can a risk be prevented?

Microneedling is a generally safe procedure, but can have temporary side effects. Someone might experience mild redness, swelling, or flaking in the days following their session. In certain situations, more pronounced reactions such as bruising, peeling, or mild bleeding may happen.

While rare, microneedling can cause irritation or broken blood vessels, as well as nerve sensitivity that leaves the treated area numb or painful for a while. To confirm whether this treatment is appropriate for you, it’s a good idea to consult a doctor first.
