On the day of your procedure, the target area will be used to make sure you are free from dirt and any debris. Your anaesthesiologist will start administering general anaesthesia; you will be in deep sleep to ensure your comfort during the procedure. The procedure usually takes about 4 to 8 hours or more, depending on the number of procedures being done. You may also need to stay overnight at the clinic or hospital for observation.
Keep in mind that any cosmetic surgery can carry the risk of common and serious complications if not performed properly. However, the mummy complications or mortality rate is relatively low, especially if the experienced and board-certified plastic surgeon performed the procedures.
To ensure your safety and comfort, mummy makeovers are performed under general anaesthesia. Technically, you will not feel any pain, and your anaesthesiologist will monitor you to make sure that you are safe and comfortable during the procedure.
You may have multiple wounds due to incisions after the procedure and may experience pain, bruising, and swelling. Your surgeon will provide a post-treatment plan to help you manage the pain and heal quickly. You have to strictly follow the advice and recommendations for a smooth recovery.
All surgical procedures may leave scars because they require incisions. However, your surgeon may strategically place the incisions where they can be hidden easily, like under your clothing or bikini. Scars may fade over the years.
Your doctor may recommend you start applying scar treatment or silicone sheets after 1 month post-surgery or even earlier to help lessen the severity of scars.
The mummy makeover results can last for about 10 years or more. However, in order to maintain the results, you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle and stable weight.
Also, keep in mind that breast implants do not last a lifetime as it needs to be replaced every 10 to 15 years.
If you are experiencing signs of infections such as fever, severe pain, delayed wound healing, pus forming around the incision site, or even unusual swelling, communicate with your surgeon urgently. This will help determine the cause of the infection and treat it right away.
Although it is possible, it is not ideal to get pregnant and give birth after a mummy makeover. All the good results that you have from the procedure will be gone away. Your money and effort will be wasted, so it is better to delay your mummy makeover if you still want to have another child and schedule it once you are fully ready or done having a child.
