What You Need To Know About BodyTite for Cellulite

What You Need To Know About BodyTite for Cellulite

Everything You Need To Know About Cellulite

It is a very common yet harmless skin condition which causes lumpy and dimpled flesh. You would often notice it on your thighs, hips, buttocks, and abdomen. It typically occurs when the layer of fat beneath the skin is pushing up against connective tissue fibers which significantly tether the skin to the underlying muscle. This will then create an uneven surface which is often described by some as having a cottage cheese or like an orange peel texture.

There are different factors why cellulite exists and these are usually influenced by a combination of biological and lifestyle factors. Here are some of them:

  • Connective Tissue Structure: For women, these fibers are typically arranged vertically which makes it easier for fat to protrude while for men, they have a crisscross structure.
  • Hormones: Hormones like estrogen, insulin, and thyroid hormones also play a significant role in storing fat and circulation.
  • Genetics: Your genes might also determine the metabolism and fat distribution under the skin.
  • Skin Thickness: As your skin ages, it loses elasticity and thins which makes the underlying cellulite more apparent moving forward.

The Different Types of Cellulite

Clinicians would typically categorise the severity of cellulite with the use of grading scale:

  • Grade 1: This grade is still mild. This is where the skin appears smooth while you are standing or lying down, however, the dimpling appears when the skin is pinched.
  • Grade 2: This grade is in moderate. Dimpling is now visible to the naked eye when standing, however, it is not visible when you are lying down.
  • Grade 3: This grade is severe. You’ll begin to notice deep peaks and valleys that are clearly visible whether you are standing or lying down.

What is Bodytite?

It is an advanced body contouring procedure which works by utilising the Radiofrequency-Assisted Lipolysis (RFAL). It is specifically designed in providing significant skin tightening and fat reduction through a single treatment. This treatment acts as a bridge between the non-invasive treatments and major invasive treatments.

This treatment works through a specialised handpiece using two electrodes – one thin internal probe which is inserted through a tiny incision and one is external. This is what happens as the device moves along the treatment area:

  • RF Energy: The radiofrequency waves will pass between the electrode while heating the fat and the dermal layers.
  • Fat Removal: At this part, the heat liquefies fat cells which makes it easier to remove through a gentle suction.
  • Collagen Stimulation: The thermal energy will then trigger an immediate contraction of the skin and will stimulate the long-term collagen production.

The Benefits of BodyTite for Cellulite
Improves Texture & Tightens Skin

The primary benefit of BodyTite for people dealing with cellulite is the dramatic increase in skin density. Through the tightening of the envelope of the skin, the tension is now redistributed, which can actually iron out the moderate dimpling that is visible in Grade 2 cellulite.

Best for Fat Reduction & Body Contouring

By removing the excess fat which puts pressure on the connective septae, the structural cause of the bulging is removed. This will lead you into a sleeker and a more uniform silhouette.

Minimally Invasive

Since BodyTite is usually performed through tiny incisions, they typically do not require stitches. This makes it the best option for those people who are looking for a treatment without undergoing any surgical-grade results which most of the time are associated with large incisions from the traditional lifts.

Short Recovery Time

Since the procedure is non-invasive and does not require any larger incisions than traditional liposuction or skin excision, the downtime of the procedure is significantly shorter. The majority of the patients can actually return to their normal daily routines after a few days of the treatment.

How BodyTite Procedure Works
What Happens Before The Procedure

The procedure will start through a thorough consultation and health screening. At this phase, you will be assessed through your skin’s elasticity then your clinician will identify the specific areas of fat accumulation, and finally review your medical history. This is to ensure that you are a suitable candidate for the procedure. You might also be advised to stop smoking and specifically avoid taking any blood-thinning medications for at least two weeks before the treatment. This is to minimise any bruising that you might experience after the procedure.

What Actually Happens During the Treatment

The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia. The surgeon will make a tiny incision which is not larger than a few millimeters. Then afterwards, the surgeon will insert the internal cannula.

Radiofrequency & Suction: As the internal probe delivers thermal energy in order to liquefy the fat and contract the connective tissues, the external electrode will monitor the skin temperature in order to ensure safety. The liquefied fat will also be removed through a gentle suction. This provides an immediate contouring while the heat continues to work into shrinking the skin from within.

What Happens After The Procedure

The after care is also important and needs to be structured in order to support the newly tightened tissues. This is what happens after the procedure:

  • 1st to 3rd day: The majority of the patients would typically be advised to wear a compression garment 24/7 in order to manage the swelling and support the skin’s new contours.
  • 1st week: The majority of the patients were able to return to their light office work and daily activities.
  • 2nd to 6th week: At this time, you’ll notice that swelling gradually subsides Most patients can now resume into a more vigorous exercise provided that they are cleared by their surgeon.

The Side Effects, Risks & Expectations of BodyTite

While side effects of Bodytite are generally mild and manageable, you should still be mindful of it. These are some of the common side effects that you need to be aware of:

  • Bruising and Swelling: These are very common and will eventually subside after a few hours. This happens because of the fat-removal process and it would usually peak within the first 48–72 hours.
  • Tenderness: You might feel this in the treated area. You may feel sore which is very similar to the feeling after doing an intense workout.
  • Temporary Numbness: Don’t worry about this because this is only temporary. According to most patients, they experience some change in sensation as the nerves in the dermal layer are recovering from the thermal energy.

What To Expect after Cellulite Reduction?

It is very vital to understand that BodyTite treatment is not an actual cure for cellulite. While yes, the skin tightening and fat reduction can significantly make the skin smoother, the underlying connective bands which cause the deep dimpling are not surgically severed by this device. The majority of the patients reported that they are only seeing any noticeable improvement since they are in Grade 1 and 2 cellulite, but those people who are dealing with Grade 3 dimpling might actually require a combination of various treatments to achieve a completely smooth result.

When Is BodyTite Not Recommended?

It is important to note that Bodytite may not be an ideal solution to everyone especially if you are the following:

This is not for you if you have a huge amount of redundant and hanging skin. You might need to have an excisional surgery such as tummy tuck or thigh lift to achieve your desired result.

This is not for you if you are pregnant or currently breastfeeding. This is because the procedure involves a radiofrequency and anesthesia which are typically deferred during these times.

If you have an active infection or skin conditions. The procedure requires the treatment area to be healthy and free of any inflammation or any active dermatological issues which are very essential before proceeding to the treatment.
