To help you find the answers you need, here are a few of the more common quibbles that we find our clients frequently ask...
After application of a numbing agent, treatment simply involves a series of small injections into the chin and/or jawline. This will vary depending on what was discussed at your consultation, and what you are trying to accomplish.
Your doctor will then use his or her hands to help manipulate the filler into the natural contours of the face. This helps achieve the most subtle finish possible and ensures that your filler moves naturally with the face rather than gather or bunch in one particular area. Following this, you will see an immediate boost to both volume and shape.
Chin Filler can do many, many things for the face. Some of these include: adding balance to a top-heavy or tapered face, removing visible chin dimpling, detracting from large or protruding teeth, correcting facial asymmetry, giving the illusion of a straighter jawline/more even profile and even lessening the appearance of a setback jaw or overbite.
Unlike the surgical option of Chin Implants, Chin Filler is not permanent and we typically it to remain in place for an estimated 6-12 months.
The fact that Chin Filler is not permanent is often considered to be both a 'pro' and a 'con', as - unlike chin implants - it can also be easily removed. If for any reason you find that you aren't 100% happy with your finished results, filler may be entirely dissolved using a special enzyme known as 'Hyaluronidase'. For this reason, many people opt for Chin Filler before later taking the permanent step with Dermal Implants.
Appointments for Chin Filler typically take a maximum of 30 minutes and offer immediate visible results.
As is the case with any type of Dermal Filler, you may experience a handful of temporary side effects such as redness, swelling and/or bruising around the injection sites. This is usually only a concern for about week or so, and nothing that most patients aren't able to conceal with a touch of mineral makeup!
Recovery from injectibles is minimal and certainly will not prevent you from getting on with your life. Patients may experience minor side effects such as bruising and inflammation for up to a week or so, but this is typically only slight and there is no necessary 'recovery window' as such.
We do, however, suggest that for the first few days following treatment you refrain from putting any extreme pressure on the area.
Immediately. Chin Filler can take as little as 15-20 minutes, and many even return to work after their lunchtime appointments!
