To help you find the answers you need, here are a few of the more common quibbles that we find our clients frequently ask...
FaceTite (commonly referred to as RFAL or 'radiofrequency assisted liposuction') is a one-off, minimally-invasive procedure which works by warming the fatty tissue in the neck and face with a fine radio frequency probe, in order to destroy excess fat cells and force the surrounding skin to contract. It has been shown both clinically and scientifically that heated skin will contract - the degree to which this happens depends on the amount of energy (or heat) delivered to the tissues.
A small cannula is first inserted under the skin, in order for doctors to apply direct RF heat to the particular fatty cells in isolation. Once these cells have reached a certain temperature, it causes thermal injury and simultaneous triggers the body's production of collagen.
FaceTite is a perfect fix for: neck, cheek and jaw sagging, jowls, malar festoons (the puffy swellings under the eyes which are not treatable with surgery) as well as treating fatty imbalances and asymmetry.
Whilst FaceTite does not physically remove tissue, it is a safe and incredibly effective method of tightening the skin, and reducing areas of excess fat. Patients will notice an immediate tightening of the skin and then a continuous improvement over the following three to six weeks as new collagen is produced.
This improvement will continue for up to 6 months, and you can expect an up to 40% improvement in skin tautness.It is suitable for anyone with loose, sagging skin on the face and neck. However, it is not suitable for anyone that has recently had dermal fillers. We would recommend waiting at least 8 – 10 weeks before undergoing FaceTite following filler.
Results of FaceTite are immediate and will last up to five years, although this is can vary based on factors such as genetics and lifestyle.
Best results are seen gradually over a 2-4 months week period - as the skin tightens and new collagen is formed - but will continue to be at work below the surface for 6-12 months. Some patients have seen a continued contraction and lifting of the skin for up to 18 months.
For older, thinning skin or for those with acne scarring, we often combine recommend FaceTite with Fractora™ (a fractional resurfacing treatment) for even more impressive results.
FaceTite takes around an hour to perform - by can vary based on the specific portions of the face and neck being treated.
FaceTite is a perfectly safe treatment, although is does come accompanied by some minor swelling, partly due to the local anaesthetic fluid that was injected as well as the treatment itself. You should expect to experience swelling for the first 5-7 days.
It is also very common to experience temporary numbness in the treated areas. This is short-term response to the heating of the nerves in the skin during the procedure. On rare occasions, this numbness can take a number of months to resolve completely although most patients are not affected by it.
FaceTite is a one-off, minimally invasive procedure performed under local anesthesia or light sedation. This allows you to resume your routine shortly after, albeit wearing a compression garment (up to 5 days is recommended). You should be prepared for the face and neck to feel tender for the first week, and may ease this discomfort with analgesia if necessary.
On occasion, some bruising can occur following FaceTite but this typically resolves within the first 1-2 weeks.
This will of course, depend on the nature of your role and more physical responsibilities may require longer, however most patients take anywhere from 7-10 days from work following FaceTite.
By day 5, post-procedure swelling will have significantly decreased, and you will be left with only mild tenderness. By this point, many people feel comfortable returning to light duties. Your doctor will be happy to advise you based on your personal circumstance.
