During Fat Transfers, fat is harvested and prepared in a similar way to Liposuction. After deciding on an area for harvesting fat - typically the tummy, thighs or buttocks - this area is anaesthetised and injected with a small suction cannula. This allows practitioners access to the fatty tissue whilst causing minimal damage to the surrounding tissue and leaving next to no visible scarring.
Fat cells are then reinjected into the chest in small increments, forming layers, to help build natural volume and shape. Voila - there you have the naturally-enhanced bust of your dreams!
Due to the fact that breasts are naturally made up of fatty tissue, our chest size will often fluctuate during certain stages of life - pregnancy or periods of weight gain/loss for example. This repeated fluctuation typically leaves the skin of the chest appearing deflated, sunken or concave. Fat Transfers can restore volume to where years of 'up and down' have taken effect, leaving a buxom bust which appears youthfully plump and healthy.
Additionally, petite frames which may have never felt adequate in size, shape or fullness can receive the boost they have been craving for the first time ever.

It should be noted that they will initially appear larger than anticipated due to both swelling and what is sometimes referred to as 'overcorrection'. This is when practitioners inject slightly more fat than is necessary to achieve your desired look. Overcorrection is a practice used to combat the percentage of body fat which is expected to be naturally reabsorbed by the body - which is unavoidable, and every patient will experience to a degree. By doing this, practitioners are able to ensure that patients are left delighted with the size and shape of the finished result.
Procedures typically take between 1 and 2 hours - depending on the amount of harvested fat required.
Side effects of transferring fat to the breasts are only temporary, although may include: bruising, swelling and some temporary numbness (both around where the fatty deposit was removed and the reinjection sites).
You should expect to set aside up to 2 weeks recovery time following a Fat Transfer. Having said this, many patients are comfortable to return to gentle activity from as early as days 7-10. It is, however, recommended that you avoid any form of intense cardio for a minimum of 2 months following this procedure.
Ideally, we would suggest that all patients abstain from anything strenuous for a period of 2 weeks. Of course, we are aware that many are keen to return to normality as soon as possible and those with more sedentary roles are often comfortable returning to duties after 7-10 days of treatment.
