PRP In London

With over half a million procedures undertaken, you're in safe hands

PRP is a cutting-edge cosmetic technique that involves extracting the part of the blood that centres around cell restoration (the 'PRP'), and using repurposing it elsewhere in the body. PRP for hair growth involves infusing struggling hair follicles with PRP ('Platelet Rich Plasma') which has been extracted from the blood.

Treatments using PRP are often called Dracula treatments, feeding from the body's natural resources to heal and restore itself. This makes it an astonishing scalp stimulation and hair growth technique, that thousands are now reaping the benefits of…

PRP Before & Afters

The remarkable difference a Harley Street Skin Clinic treatment can provide

PRP treatment serves as a non-surgical remedy to premature hair loss and thinning. It is most commonly used to treat male/female pattern baldness and alopecia but may also be used to encourage rapid hair growth in areas such as the beard, the eyebrows and the pubic area. We think the results speak for themselves...

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) has been used to remedy sports injuries and joint complaints for many years, but more recently, has come to the attention of the masses for its cosmetic uses. Through careful follicle stimulation, PRP can drastically improve the appearance of hair fullness, thickness and volume.

PRP makes use of nutrient rich resources in the blood to accelerate hair growth in the most natural, pain-free way possible. Using the body's own natural instinct to heal itself, PRP injections target struggling stem cells, to assist them in the growth of healthy new hair.

PRP For Hair Growth FAQs

The answer to some of the most common questions you may have

It's only natural to have questions if you are considering pursuing a treatment for the first time, and at Harley Street Skin, it's important to us that you feel confident and comfortable at every stage of your journey. To help you find the answers you need, here are a few of the more common quibbles that we find our clients frequently ask...

PRP treatments work by isolating the component of the blood which helps the body to heal and form clots, working as a natural stimulant to the areas of the body most in need of restoration. During PRP, the concentrated PRP is then reinjected into the scalp using a fine needle - essentially providing a vitamin boost directly to the follicles.

Around 120 cc's of blood is drawn from the arm, similar to a blood test, and the sample is placed into an centrifuge where it is spun rapidly to separate the blood into layers. This allows the PRP to be extracted, isolating all of those fantastic growth proteins used for cell multiplication.

PRP literally gets to the root of your hair issues, combating thinning hair, visible scalp, shedding, breakage, and noticeable balding. It can discernibly improve the hair's volume and thickness, reawakening the dormant hair follicles as well as revivifying the active ones.Thinning hair can be catastrophic to self-esteem, and leave you feeling far too self-aware. PRP provides an incredible solution to conditions that many men and women have needlessly suffered with for years.

FINANCE CALCULATOR

Effects of PRP - both visible and beneath the surface - will typically last up to 18 months. Between 4 to 6 months of your PRP procedure, you should notice visible results. This will continue to improve over the course of the year as the hair follows the normal growth cycle. Patients should consider repeating treatment at roughly 8 month-1 year intervals to maintain natural and consistent regrowth.

All in all, PRP will take roughly 2 hours to administer. Firstly, the injection sites are coated with topical anaesthesia, which will take between 30-60 minutes to take effect. During which time, your blood sample shall be taken and placed in the device for centrifugation. Following that, the concentrated PRP is reinjected into your chosen area(s) and the procedure is complete. Within 6-8 months, patients typically notice astonishing improvement in hair volume and quality.

It should be noted that patients must also avoid all anti-inflammatory medications (including prescription anti-inflammatories) as well as over the counter painkillers, for 7 days prior to the procedure, and 3 days after. Cardiac patients may however continue taking aspirin. Unfortunately, patients in need of blood thinning medication such as Warfarin, Coumadin, Plavix or Pradaxa etc. may not be eligible for PRP treatment.

Side effects of PRP treatment are minimal, and due to its use of all-natural resources, it also runs zero risk of allergic reaction or rejection. It is not uncommon however, for patients to experience a temporary worsening of hair loss or itchiness as the follicles adjust, but this is a perfectly normal response to treatment and certainly not something to panic over.

There may also be some slight bruising, sensitivity or swelling around the injection sites, and some patients also find that they experience slight headaches and/or tenderness for a short space of time, although nothing that cannot be pacified with paracetamol.

PRP is both nonsurgical and minimally invasive, so recovery requires little to no time at all. Some may find they wish to take a day to rest, but many are able to resume normal activities from the moment they have left the clinic. There will be some initial inflammation, but nothing that should require any substantial downtime. We would, suggest that you are careful of exposing the area to direct sun rays for the first 2-3 days after treatment, but aside from that, patients generally feel fighting fit, and ready to take on the world again the following morning.

Treatment for PRP should not harm your ability to work whatsoever, and many patients choose to resume duties that very same day, if not the day after.

We would recommend that you refrained from cleansing the injected area until the following morning, however. This will mean you should avoid submerging the area in the bath/shower or washing the scalp with product for at least the first few days.
