Your appointment starts with a consultation with your doctor. After asking about your health, lifestyle, diet and any concerns you may have. A sample is then collected and sent to a laboratory for analysis.
Epigenetic tests use a simple cheek swab, saliva sample or blood test. The test is very simple and straightforward. Your provider will explain what method you will use in your consultation.
Most epigenetics tests are painless, especially when cheek swabs or saliva samples are the methods used. If a blood sample is needed, you may feel a quick pinch, similar to having a routine blood test.
The collection usually takes only 5 to 15 minutes. Together with the consultation, your appointment may last 30 to 60 minutes.
Results are ready within 2 to 6 weeks depending on the test done. Your clinician will explain your results or any treatment recommendations during your follow-up appointment.
